My hot take is that I'd much rather watch chaps like Sam and James spend 15 minutes than watch a video distilled to 90 seconds for TikTok streams. (And we haven't even talked about my love of Aden Films; most of theirs are in places like Japanese hibachi houses, where it's just nat sound and great shots of wagyu.)
As for Paul Thomas Anderson: it is now RARE that I've seen any of the Best Picture nominees, which wasn't the case 19 years ago with No Country...So I haven't seen it and can't weigh in on whether it matches the mood I'm seeing.
Still holding out hope for the Coen Brothers to adapt Blood Meridian.
Time is running out, maybe; they only have maybe a dozen more movies in them.
